| If we assume that Snape is a spy how does he go about this? We have seen many instances of deception, spying and bugging in the magical world, but what evidence is there for Snape’s methods? The most logical seems to be Snape’s Occlumency ability, but is that enough to hide his true feelings from Voldemort? (Or Dumbledore?) |

Cookie, I'm thinking Snape's Anger, and strong emotions has been used effectively so far, to block his mind from Lord Voldimort from telling if he is lying....Snape's life has been marred in his early years, just like Voldimort, so he may be equally blocking his mind.
Harry could feel Voldimort's emotions for awhile...
"So tell me Harry, Dumbledore . "Your Scar...has it been hurting at all?
"No, he said," and I've been wondering about that. I thought it would burn all the time now Voldimort's getting so powerful again" ...
it's Occlumency!
Probably Harry's going to need to put some time into breaking through that barrier...I was also thinking Dumbledore is giving Harry an insight of who Lord Voldimort really is, and perhaps a weakness.
If he can master his emotions using Occlumency, the way Snape does...it could save him.
Even when Snape is fleeing the scene, Snape yells, "Blocked again and again and again until you learn to keep your mouth shut and your mind closed Potter"....he's telling him to work, on controlling his mind. |

| I think that Snape is caught between good and evil. Even though he killed Dumbledore I still believe that he is not sure where he wants to land. Perhaps he will be the one to redeem himself in future books. |

| We are not sure exactly what Snape was doing as a spy but we know he was in contact with the dark Lord and that means that Snape would have had to be an amazing occlumens to be able to hide his deception from Voldemort. We can only assume from what Dumbledore says in Order of the Phoenix that Snape is a brilliant occlumens. From canon we can also see that Snape is a perfectionnist, in potion he is very attentive to details and does not accept failure, and we know from his actions and what he was able to do under the name of the half blood prince that Snape is intelligent and like to take risks (like invening new potentially dangerous spells). He is very good at masking his emotion, especially those that could be seem at weakness, prefering to show a sneering mask of comtempt, hatred and nastiness. All these aptitudes helped him fool one of the two greatest wizards in century and that is not a small feat!! the question is still which one of the two... |

We all know Snape is a spy, but how do we know which side he is actually on. For one we know that he made the unbreakable vow with Draco's mother, Narsicca. Did he know that Malfroy would not be able to finish the task and then tell Dumbledor about it? How does Dumbledor know that Snape is loyal to him? And how does he stand the burning of his death eaters mark without going to Voldemort? What was it that he told Dumbledor to make him believe that he was no longer a death eater. We also know that Sirius' brother Regulas died because he wanted out of being a death eater. Can Snape hide his emotions that well from Voldemort? Or from Dumbledor for that matter? He did say they were the greatest wizards. Or was killing Dumbledor part of the plan? All we have to do is read the conversation between Snape, Bellatrix and Narcissa and he makes a lot of valid points as to why he is where he is.
I'm new at this so sorry if I didn't do this right. |
